Kitchen Canvas

I found this really cool idea for Kitchen Art online and just had to try it (with a few modifications ). It ended up not costing me a dime, other than sacrificing a set of Silverware.

Mine isn't as fun, but works with the colors in my Kitchen. You never know I might one day decided to change it up and go crazy with color.

Supplies: Canvas, Paint, Silverware, Hot Glue

DIY Planners

Being the slightly OCD person that I am.  I have at least 2 planners at all times, full of Lists, Coupons, Post Its, and Project Ideas. When I say this cool way to DIY a comp book, I knew I could make it my own.

Step By Step Instructions:

Book Art

I found this image while goggling for "DIY Book Art" and instantly was on a mission to try to recreate this.  Many Goggle searches later, I found out this was made by an artist and the likelihood that I could do this was slim to none.  Always the optimists, I decided to make my own, just simpler.

All you Need is an Old Hardcover Book & Time
Play with Different ways to Fold Pages
(all 250)

I went the Easy Way & just Folded all the Pages in Half

Finished Product
I'm working on several more to arrange on the wall around my bookshelf and will have pictures up soon.

Sneak Peek

Today I'm working on a Pretty Cool Wall Art Design!

Any Guesses?

Just a Little Color

Until I can find the perfect mismatched knobs for my dresser. I decided to work with what I have and decorate the old ones.
Using Leftover Paint
Holding the Screws Means no Paint on your Fingers
One Coat is Never Enough
They Still Look Boring........

Of course I had to Hot Glue Something on them
The Great thing about this Project, is that I can make it as "Gaudy" as I want.

Happy Monday!

Covering a Lamp Shade

Recently, I have been throwing around ideas to improve the look of my boring bedside lamps. At first, I was thinking about Stenciling them, but couldn't come up with a design that would work in the room. I've had this scarf in my closet since winter, waiting to be worn or used. It has a variety of colors, textures, and sparkly.  So I sacrificed it to the craft gods (they don't really exist) and cover my lamp shades:

Supplies: Shades, Material, Hot Glue, Scissors
(I don't know what I would do w/out a Glue Gun)
Step 1: Work your way around Gluing Material around the Inside
Step 2: Cut excess Material around the bottom & Glue around the Bottom
(I took the easy way, I'm sure there's a more step by step way)

Before & After
Now that my Shades are so Stylish, the lamps themselves are in need of a paint job.
Stay tuned for that, its sure to be a learning experience.

Ash

Can Lights

I don't have it in me to throw anything away, especially if I might find a use for it in the future. So with that in mind, I have been keeping my large coffee cans(we can't live w/out the Java) and smaller aluminum cans (just everyday cans). And what do you know I had an idea....Lets turn the cans into Lanterns or Candle Holders:

1st Step: Draw out a Pattern
2nd Step: Drill out Pattern
(I held the Can, it would have been safer if we had clamps)

Look into the Can to make sure its "Pretty"

Finished Product
This was Super Simple and made a Great gift to my Brother & Sister-in-Law for there Anniversary.

Happy Hump Day & Keep Crafting!

Are You Ready?

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks. Then you know that Football Season is less than 3 weeks away(something like 18 days). That gives me just enough time to figure out what fun new crafts, food, and decoration ideas, to make in order to celebrate each and every game. Here are a few ideas:
ROLL TIDE!!!
(Yes I'm a Bama Girl)

Themed Cookies
These were made by a friend of mine
http://www.facebook.com/sugarcitysweets

Who doesn't love a Cheese Ball

Seven Layer Dip
In the words of Sandra Lee "Its all about the Tablescape"
In the end all you really need is a game, good company, and something to munch on.
(and sometimes a stiff drink)
I'm hoping to post at least one project a week, related to the upcoming game. So check back & see what I can come up with.

Happy Tuesday & Let the countdown begin!!
